Park Square Presents
Theatre in Residence Flying Foot Forum

Heaven
May 31 – Jun 23, 2019

Created and Directed by Joe Chvala
Music by Chan Poling
Drama / Music / Dance on the Proscenium Stage

Wild dancing, heartbreakingly gorgeous music, and a love story. Follow photographer Peter Adamson on a journey with his translator Faruk to save Faruk’s wife during the Bosnian war in the 1990s. Friendship, love and painfully beautiful moments come to life through heart-stopping percussive dance, Balkan party music performed live by members of Okestar Bez Ime, and driving songs by Chan Poling (Glensheen, The Suburbs).

From the Creator and Director:Heaven is a show of sharp contrasts, filled with beautiful music, love stories and raucous dancing, as it brings us inside the violence of the 1990s Bosnian War. It features members of Orkestar Bez Ime, a Balkan party band, music by Chan Poling, and actors who sing and speak in English and Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian as they tell this cautionary tale of the need to find common ground rather than fight those who are different from us.” –Joe Chvala

PERFORMANCE TIME: 2 hours, 35 minutes including one 15 minute intermission.

A Flying Foot Forum production.

ADVISORY: Heaven is appropriate for adults and possibly teens 16 and up — parental discretion advised. The play takes place during the Bosnian war and while the play is ultimately hopeful, as the story unfolds, many of the worst situations found in a war are depicted or talked about including stories of mass execution, torture, and sexual violence. There is adult language throughout.
